Interview with a Talented Student from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted
Having started as an Ambassador for Capstone’s StudyGlobal Education Fairs, what did you learn from directly meeting with school representatives?
Initially, I was not very confident in my English skills. However, given the opportunity to communicate in a real-world setting, I gradually became more comfortable and self-assured. The knowledge and skills I have acquired have been a valuable experience, teaching me that nothing is impossible if we dare to try and strive.
Each year, Capstone recruits Ambassadors for its StudyGlobal Education Fairs to help students familiarize themselves with the international environment and gain more experience with schools.
As a former Communications Ambassador, could you share more about the support Capstone provided you during the preparation of your study abroad application?
During the preparation of my study abroad application, I received enthusiastic guidance from Capstone. I was fully supported, free of charge, in completing my application. The consultants at Capstone were always ready to answer my questions and provide helpful advice. Additionally, I received significant support during the visa application process. Capstone guided me in preparing all the necessary documents and practiced with me for visa interviews to boost my confidence. Furthermore, Capstone helped me save a significant amount on visa fees.
Hong Phuc assisted school representatives at this event, providing her with valuable opportunities to enhance her English communication skills.
Why did you decide to choose The Village School?
The Village School has many attractive features, but the main reason is when I attended the school's info session, I realized that the school has a large and modern music room. Because I play musical instruments, when I looked at The Village School, I thought in my head: Oh, I want to go to this school. I love this school.
The Village School collaborates with The Juilliard School to offer a professional performing arts program.
Could you share more details about your experience working with Capstone's consulting team during the application process? What impressed you the most?
Because I had the opportunity to listen to the presentation of The Village School's teachers at the Info Session event, I think I was provided with quite a lot of necessary information. In addition, if I have any further questions, I can easily contact Capstone so that they can contact the school representative to answer for me. Especially, I find the advisors in the team to be very meticulous. When I got my visa, they still called me to remind me bit by bit. I remember on Wednesday when I had the visa result, and Ms. Thao called to inform me and reminded me for more than 20 minutes about every detail. Very, very meticulous.
What kind of support would you like Capstone to continue providing in the near future?
When my 12th-grade study abroad program in the US ends, I plan to start preparing my university applications. I really hope Capstone can help me create a detailed plan and support me throughout this process. I'm also quite worried about balancing my studies with other activities and avoiding being overwhelmed by a heavy workload. Therefore, I need an experienced person to advise me, help me find scholarships, internships, or extracurricular activities suitable to enhance my university applications.
Do you have any advice for students who are preparing their study abroad applications?
Actually, I don't have a fixed formula. I simply follow what I'm passionate about and what suits me. I think this important factor will help me clearly define my goals and make specific plans for the future.
How do you feel about being away from your family and what do you hope to achieve during your studies and in your future career?
I've been planning to study abroad for years, so I'm quite prepared for this journey. I believe studying abroad will open up many new opportunities for me and help me become a more mature and independent person. As for my future career, it's still a bit far in the future to detail my plans because I still want to pursue postgraduate studies. I simply want to get into my dream school, but I'll keep that a secret for now.
We understand that Hong Phuc is aiming to get into top-tier universities in the US. Capstone is committed to supporting her in achieving her goals and believes that with her dedication, she will overcome any obstacles and succeed in her future endeavors.
